Australia ‘Not Resilient Enough’ to World Turmoil, Chalmers Says

Australia’s economy and budget need further ballast to withstand the latest rounds of global volatility, Treasurer Jim Chalmers said, even as he highlighted that the nation is better positioned than many developed-world counterparts.

In an address to the National Press Club on Wednesday, Chalmers will set out the priorities for the re-elected center-left government at a time of conflict in the Middle East and Eastern Europe and with a US president who aims to reshape world trade in America’s interests.
