On the night of Friday, May 10, 2024, a spectacular northern lights show (Aurora Borealis) occured over Montreal, Canada and much of the world for that matter. This was the result of a G5 geomagnetic storm that hit the planet Earth 🌍 caused by a coronal mass ejection from the sun. In brief, This solar flare interferes with the Earth's magnetosphere causing an amazing light show. If geomagnetic storms were hurricanes, a G5 would be like a category 5 storm. For more information on the storm, read this news article from CBC News: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/solar-... I managed to film this video from a cemetery in the Lachine sector of Montreal. I'll be putting together a video of photos I took of the northern lights sometime this weekend. This video we filmed on Friday, May 10, 2024 at approximately 10:05 pm Eastern Canadian Time. Note that this happened one month after another very rare event in the skies involving the sun, a Total Solar Eclipse. #montreal #northernlights #g5 #aurora #auroraborealis #astronomy #cme #solar #sun #solarstorm #sky #space #ems #solarflare #nature
