L’Oreal is boosting its portfolio in skincare after announcing a deal to buy a majority stake in Medik8, a UK brand that specializes in anti-ageing serums and creams. Interestingly, L’Oreal highlighted its accessible price point in the statement but the brand will join its luxury unit. L’Oreal has a wide offering of skincare brands, ranging from its pricey SkinCeuticals (30ml serum for €172) to more affordable brands like CeraVe or La Roche Posay, all of which are part of its dermatological beauty unit. Private equity Inflexion will remain as a minority investor and the label’s founder Elliot Isaacs will stay on the board. Deal terms weren’t disclosed. Skincare demand soared during the pandemic when consumers stuck at home turned to TikTok and other platforms to seek advice for their wellness routines. Clearly L’Oreal seems to be betting the trend will not go away. #skincare #medik8 #loreal #beauty #mna https://lnkd.in/dnwCxEN5
