Who’s Likely to Win Australia’s Election and What’s at Stake?
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese could become the first Australian leader in more than two decades to win consecutive terms in office, with polls showing his center-left government is in the lead ahead of a national election on May 3.
Taking on Albanese is opposition leader Peter Dutton, whose popularity in the polls has declined since the election was called in March. His conservative traits have prompted the public to compare him with US President Donald Trump, who is currently deeply unpopular in Australia.
