An Ivory Coast court’s decision to remove Tidjane Thiam from the voters’ roll effectively disqualified the former Credit Suisse chief executive officer from this year’s presidential election, raising the risk of political instability in the world’s biggest cocoa-producing nation.
An Ivorian tribunal on Tuesday found Thiam, 62, ineligible to be registered as a voter because of his dual French-Ivorian nationality, his lawyer Rodrigue Dadjé said. The ruling bars him from entering the race to become the next president, he said.
