China Eases Battery, Steel Scrap Import Rules to Aid Green Push
Takeaways by Bloomberg AI
China is relaxing import regulations on scrap, a move that will support recycling of battery metals and help speed the green transition in the steel market.
The government said on Monday it will permit imports of some battery scrap, known as “black mass,” from August, which will provide more feedstock for a recycling sector that is struggling with overcapacity. It will also loosen requirements for shipments of steel scrap, which were first allowed in 2021.
