I always think it's odd when a CEO talks about a company being a "family," especially in the middle of a layoff announcement. Seems kind of awkward and heartless to be putting your family out of a job! Today we announced that we will be reducing our team by just under 10%. This decision was not made lightly. Over the past year, we have been investing and our business has grown. But we know we can perform and operate even better. We undertook this decision to become leaner and more efficient and to support the next phase of Vimeo’s potential. While this step is necessary, it doesn’t make it any less painful. Vimeo is a family, with a 20 year legacy of talent and affinity for the creators we serve. I want to acknowledge and thank those who are leaving us today. Their work, creativity, and passion have left a lasting mark on our culture, and our customers. We are deeply grateful and committed to providing meaningful support to everyone in this transition.

Yesterday afternoon a federal judge handed down Google's punishments for running an illegal monopoly in online search, and the top line anaylsis is this: Google's got away with it. The company escaped the harshest remedies proposed by the Department of Justice. Stock soared to all-time highs on the news. It's another case of antitrust law moving far too slowly for the speed of tech.
